A New Steve Breathes Life Back Into Journey
Gone is "the voice" we all new so well, Steve Perry. After a
brief reunion CD, Trial By Fire in 1998, Perry was injured in a hiking
accident and was hesitant to tour and return to the band. So band leader
and lead guitarist, Neal Schon and the boys found the next best thing
with new lead singer, Steve Augeri. The new Steve can almost hits the
Perry hi notes but has a knack for singing the rockers on this CD better
than Perry could ever pull off. The power ballads and oh.oh..ohs are still
hear with "Kiss Me Softly", "With Your Love", "All
The Way" and "Loved By You" leading the way. Journey fans
giving it a first listen when a demo leaked out on to the Internet, informed
the band that they wanted a heavier sound so the band returned to the
studio to satisfy fans by adding a few rockers to this CD before it's
release. My favorites are the bass grinding "All The Things"
and the hard edged "World Gone Bad". Yes, a new Steve with a
perm has made his arrival but Journey still sounds like the high-powered
80's band that us thirty-somethings know all too well.
